The Viewpoint offers just that, a perfect 180-degree view across the slate-covered rooftops of Ambleside towards St. Mary’s steeple and the majestic mountain range beyond. This vibrant village is popular with visitors of all ages and interests; outdoor enthusiasts will marvel at the wide choice of low and high-level walks and varied cycle routes to be enjoyed right from the door and a wealth of waterborne activities that take place beside or on lake Windermere herself.

Elevated above the village, perch yourself in the window seat of the lounge and gaze down on the comings and goings below, the streets lined with a wide selection of shops, galleries, cafes and bars and one or two newly opened fine dining establishments for that special occasion dinner.

All on the first floor, The Viewpoint is reached by way of an internal staircase and into the hallway off of which you’ll find two bedrooms, a double to the right with well-fitted furnishings to make the best use of the space and a twin bedroom across the way, both similarly decorated in pale, calming colours with crisp white linens for a fresh look and feel. The house bathroom is fully tiled and has a shower over a deep bath, ideal for a long soak at the end of an adventurous day.

A couple of steps up is the contemporary, open plan living space featuring some interesting rooflines, exposed trusses and ‘the best seat in the house’ providing a bird’s eye view of Ambleside. Two matching sofas sit opposite each other, either side of a large TV with DVD and digital radio. The stylish kitchen come dining room is well designed with modern conveniences of an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. A chest freezer can be found in the hallway.

Outside, there’s a shared seating area where you can soak up some more of the amazing view. A parking permit is provided for use on the nearby Lake Road car park which can also be used on several other SLDC car parks within the area proving quite a saving on your holiday.

  • The Viewpoint is accessed up some external, slate steps so may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
  • The steps can be slippery in wet weather.
  • You may unload your vehicle near the property.

    We’ve just returned from our wonderful stay at the Viewpoint. It is a fantastic apartment, with stunning views on all sides. The apartment is spacious, but with a cosy feel. It has a very sociable layout and a cute window seat. Be prepared to climb a few stairs to get to it, but it’s definitely worth it. The apartment is in a great location, just a few steps from the town Centre, where you can find all the bars, cafes and shops. The apartment comes with a parking permit, which is very helpful. The carpark is a couple of minutes walk to the flat and usually has spaces. We would definitely recommend booking the viewpoint!

    Lovely cottage in central Ambleside. Close to lots of cafes and pubs also great for walking the fells

    The flat is in a terrific location, minutes walk to everything in Ambleside and an ideal base for adventuring round the lake district, the shared courtyard at the front catches the sun nicely with a pleasant view over the town. The check in is all self serve so the only contact with the (host) agency was when we needed an issue addressing, outside of this the communication was clear and concise with a very smooth check-in.

    We had a great week in Ambleside, and the apartment is in a fantastic location in the heart of the town. The accommodation has everything you need for a lovely time, and is a large space for you to relax after exploring the local area. I would definitely recommend this flat to other people looking to stay in Ambleside.
