  • Stephanie says:

Excellent cottage with all the essentials. Had a lovely time playing the games too. The location is amazing with shops and pubs literally round the corner. Very quiet which was needed after busy days exploring the lake. We had a smashing time and would love to go back! Thank you

  • Karen says:

We had just the best few days at this lovely cottage in the absolute perfect location in Hawkshead. Just a few minutes walk from everything in the village and had many walks straight from the door so no need to be in the car at all . Great little Co-op for anything needed and good variety of tea shops/ pubs for refreshments Cottage was clean , tidy and had a well stocked and spacious kitchen. Communication was easy and owners were responsive and personable. Nothing not to like – absolutely recommend 100%

  • Sarah says:

A lovely cottage, suited our family of four and dog really well. The arrival hamper was most welcome. Thank you for a great week.

  • Sandra lloyd says:

Beautiful clean cottage throughout. Excellent location and dog friendly . Secure garden was a must for us and was perfect. Lovely meals out in the Red Lion literally 1 minute walk .

  • Lorraine Selby says:

Lovely cottage, great amenities, spotlessly clean, in an ideal location. A very generous Welcome Pack was left for us on our arrival which was very much appreciated. Communication with Lakeland Retreats has been very good. This was our first booking with this holiday company but, it will not be our last. Highly recommend them!!

  • Kev says:

A cosy cottage, ideal for a small family. Kitchen in particular was really well prepped, with way more than the minimum pots and pans that you often get in a holiday let. We found that we had to tinker with the bath/shower and only open the tap halfway to get the hottest water, but other than that we were delighted with the place, and would definitely recommend.

  • Karen says:

A lovely house in a perfect location! It was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. Moments away from amenities, but super quiet. Beds were comfortable and we slept well. Ideal for a weekend in the lakes!

  • Sally says:

A great spot for exploring the Lakes. We had a great stay and appreciated the little touches, the walking books and the extra dog friendly touches. Thank you!

  • Helen says:

What a beautiful place to stay – so peacefully decorated and furnished. And we really loved living with the various paintings/artworks on the walls throughout the house – such a pleasure. Well equipped kitchen and lots of hot water too which was much appreciated several times! Wished it could have been two weeks…. Thank you!

  • John says:

A great property in a great location bang in the middle of attractive Hawshead. The kitchen is well kitted out and the rooms are comfortable.

  • Helen says:

Cosy house in a great location. Well equipped and with plenty of space

  • Emma says:

A lovely little cottage in the village of Hawkshead. Close to pubs, gift shops and a co op for essentials. Beautiful surroundings with pleasant walks. The cottage is well arranged and offers all the home conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay. Check in was extremely simple and contactless and a delicious hamper with local goodies awaiting our arrival. All in all, a great place to stay.

  • Susan says:

A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a perfect location for enjoying the lakes. Hawkshead is a beautiful place. The house was well stocked( including welcoming gifts from local sources) and had plenty of space for us( 2 adults,14 and 7 year old). It was clean and tidy and the host was superb at communicating throughout. A great place to stay and recommended.

  • Graeme says:

Fantastic stay at the lovely Victory Cottage. Great location and a wonderful village. Had an amazing holiday. Would love to return again!

  • Robert says:

Exactly as described Cottage great location between Windermere and Coniston, made for a very enjoyable weekend. Kitchen kitted out fine. Good shower. Easy process from start to finish – thank you

  • Richard says:

A lovely cottage in the centre of the village but down a small private lane. We had such a lovely stay. The enclosed front garden was great for our dog. Hawkshead is a great small village with a coop, great cafes and fab bars. There is a lovely play park for the kids. The walks from the door are so enjoyable. It is worth noting the reserved parking is in a little pull-in off the road opposite the cottage. There is just room for two cars.

  • Mel says:

This cottage was perfect. Fantastic location in a really pretty village. Very clean and well equipped cottage. Very efficient communication with hosts. Would highly recommend it!

  • Valerie Shepherd says:

We had a fab stay. Victory cottage very clean with lovely light fittings in living area. Good quality bedding and comfy beds. Thick large bath towels. Stone floors perfect for paws and the under floor heating lovely and warm… Had to open windows!
An outdoor light /sensor may be needed as dark lane.
We enjoyed our stay so much we booked again immediately! for next year.

  • Janine Clements says:

Overall the cottage was pretty good, some minor things that could be easily rectified. The location was excellent and the cottage benefits from an enclosed garden. The double bed was comfortable and has nice quality bedding, though the bedrooms are a little small.
The underfloor heating is a definite bonus and helps dry the clothes out!.. it was a little we on our visit.
The property has a hand sanitizer dispenser which was a good idea.
We felt the property could have been cleaner (mostly the bathroom and kitchen).

  • Matthew says:

Lovely place and location is perfect – nice quiet lane but literally a stone’s throw from the centre of Hawkshead, and well-placed to explore the lakes. The cottage has been beautifully done throughout. Had a great stay here and would happily recommend.

  • Chris says:

This place is in a super location. Right in the heart of Hawkshead. Highly recommended.

  • Deborah says:

  • Alissa says:

Comfortable beds and lovely little garden, we really enjoyed our stay!

  • Andrew says:

Quiet, well placed in Hawkshead with plenty of pubs and shops nearby.

  • Peter says:

Spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable cottage in ideal location for Lakeland walking break. Very dog-friendly spot with walks from the door; The Queens Head is the antidote to the cat cafe in the village; dogs welcomed and treated!

  • David says:

A fantastic location while being quite private and secluded…. not sure how that works, but it does. Our yellow Labrador appreciated the easy access to fields for a run. A couple of minutes walk to a well stocked co-op and several pubs, with the Queens Head offering really high class food. A really cosy cottage which we would definitely book again

  • Sue says:

Excellent location, in village but tucked away with walks on your doorstep. Cosy, comfortable cottage. Excellent, helpful host who is very attentive & accommodating

  • Elisa says:

Lovely cottage, very clean and cosy in a fab location in Hawkshead. Easy to collect keys in Ambleside, great photo directions from Lakeland Retreats. Easy parking right outside. Lovely welcome basket on arrival. Local dairy deliver milk and other goodies on request (price list in the house). Unfortunately we don’t use cow’s milk so we had to pay for one bottle that was left on the first morning which we never used, but a quick phone call and they knew not to leave any more. Great for folk who are not dairy free, and they did have dairy free alternatives on their list. All in all a fab holiday and a great cottage. Would definitely book again!

  • Simon says:

Just wanted to say thanks. Victory cottage was terrific – great place in a great location and we loved hawkshead. Would definitely consider returning on any future lakes trips. Thanks very much for all your help, everything ran very smoothly. Would be interested in other properties you manage in the lakes also. Best. Simon

  • Muriel says:

Victory cottage was clean, warm and welcoming. Perfect to be right in Hawkshead with a parking spot. Enclosed front garden good for our dog.

  • Jack says:

Spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed and excellent shower. Such a quiet spot and only a minutes walk into Hawkshead.

  • William says:

Cosy cottage in a really great spot in lovely Hawkshead village, tucked away but just seconds from pubs, shop and footpaths! We had a very pleasant stay.

  • Claire says:

Perfect location and beautiful cottage with everything you could need plus extra little touches.

  • Nicola says:

The cottage is clean, modern and comfortable. Great for dogs as the garden is secure. Hawkeshead is a great village with lots of amenities but much quieter than the very busy Ambleside , which is still near enough for an evening out.

  • Dougie says:

Victory Cottage is perfectly placed in Hawkshead. Two minutes walk from everywhere, but most importantly has a completely enclosed garden for the well behaved doggos.

  • David says:

Victory Cottage is lovely. A period property that has been beautifully modernised. It is right in the centre of Hawkshead but in a quiet pedestrianised courtyard. Perfect for exploring Windermere and Coniston. Great communication from Michelle. Thank you.

  • Tim says:

A beautiful, three-floor cottage in an excellent location, just perfect for a couple. Shops (butcher’s in particular), pubs, restaurants and car park (pass included) are all very close by). Check-in/out was a breeze. Highly recommended!

  • Kate says:

Great little cottage, fabulous location to either stay in Hawkshead or travel out. Michelle was a fabulous host, very response and the cottage was very clean and tidy. Highly recommend.

  • Jen says:

Lovely cottage and great location. The village is small, but lovely with a shop and a few pubs/cafes within 2 minutes’ walk. A really nice stay overall, the milk dropped off by the milkman was very nice and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. We really enjoyed having some logs for the log burner as well. Would definitely stay again and would recommend for a great dog friendly place in the lake district

  • Alice says:

We just had a lovely stay at Victory Cottage – Hawkshead is a beautiful quaint village with plenty of walking and running routes that we enjoyed. The daily milk delivery was a lovely surprise and we thought the cottage was so cosy. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking and the shower was very powerful. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend!
