It’s location, location, location!

Sitting right in the heart of this popular Lakeland town, Tiggy Winkle Cottage is a traditional mid-terrace property with a location that’s hard to beat! From the roadside, you’re looking at a pretty Lakeland stone-built cottage with a bijou front garden, but step inside and this home from home is deceptively spacious, with plenty of room for all of the family – not forgetting the dog can come along too! Relax in front of the wood-burning stove, retreat with your book to any of the well-appointed bedrooms, or make the most of the prized outdoor space and take in the sounds of village life from afar.

The muted yet joyful decor creates a welcoming atmosphere and makes this place a true haven in the centre of bustling Windermere. As one of the Lake District’s most popular locations, you’ll find a good choice of low-level, family-friendly walks from the doorstep including Orrest Head, Brant Fell and School Knott. And you’re only a stones throw from the shores of Lake Windermere: from where you could hire a paddleboard, take a cruise along the Lake, or, if you’re feeling brave, give open water swimming a try. After a day of exploring, stroll only a few steps from the cottage to Cafe Italia – not only to enjoy the great food, but it’s the perfect place to sit back and watch the world go by!

Quality furnishings set against characterful decor

Set over three floors, the well-designed layout gives everyone a good degree of privacy and space, while the cosy lounge and well-appointed kitchen are the perfect social spaces to plan your next adventures.

Enter from the front yard into the hallway and you’ll find the separate dining room with ample seating for six – the perfect space for a family games night! Beyond here, nestle into the comfortable lounge with deep cushioned sofas and enjoy the SMART TV and traditional wood-burning stove. Off the lounge is the modern kitchen, with everything you’ll need to self-cater after a day on the fells and plenty of workspace for the whole family to lend a hand with the dinner. To the rear of the house, there’s a good-sized private courtyard with ample seating – arguably, a golden ticket when it comes to town centre accommodation!

Leading from the lounge, follow the slate staircase down to the first king-sized bedroom with an en-suite shower room, ambient lighting and tasteful furnishings. Upstairs, the first floor showcases a second king-sized bedroom and a further twin bedroom – both sharing the family bathroom with shower over bath, wash basin and WC. All three bedrooms have a good amount of storage, a TV and double-glazed windows.

Respond to Tiggy Winkle Cottage

  • Daniel says:

The cottage is perfectly located as a base to get out and around the Lake District. Lots of small cafes, restaurants and pubs open, even in December. We stayed with our two dogs and a small private rear garden was ideal for those evening/morning toilet trips. I can’t stress enough how lovely this cottage is and how perfect it is for visiting the lakes.

  • Peter Thompson says:

Just stayed here for a friend’s birthday.

This is a walkers/dog owners ideal place to stay.

The location couldn’t be better, everything is practically on your doorstep. Everything you need is single digit minutes walk.

The place itself has been well thought out. Stone or wooden floors throughout, the entrance hallway is on giant welcome mat.

Everything you need to cook for yourself or to entertain yourself for a rainy day. But put your waterproofs on and get out and enjoy the location.

    We loved our stay here!

  • Lisa says:

We really enjoyed our stay at Tiggywinkle. The cottage was really cozy, very well equipped and in the perfect location. We loved the log burner and it was nice to eat together around the dining table. We had a lovely mean at Francine’s over the road. Would definitely return! 🙂

  • Haley says:

Beautiful cottage in a great location! Very clean and nicely decorated. It had everything we needed for a long weekend in the lakes.

  • Jenna says:

Beautiful cottage in an amazing location!

  • Chloe says:

Our stay at Tiggy Winkle was perfect. The cottage was in an ideal location as a base, and it was clean and spacious. We were able to park on the road outside the cottage to load/unload and used the nearby carpark, with £1 early bird price per day, which wasn’t an issue. The nearby Home Ground café and Elleray pub were great for food.

  • Lucinda says:

Brilliant cottage in a fabulous location! Great host. Would highly recommend it!

  • Rob says:

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.

  • Samantha says:

This is a gorgeous cottage in a great spot. There isn’t parking but don’t let this put anyone off as it’s near a car park and we never had any problems getting a space. The check in was easy and the owners were always quick to reply to any messages. I’d highly recommend the cottage.
