Roembeck is the perfect haven for a large family or, two or three couples seeking a contemporary and quality retreat in the centre of Lakeland’s most cosmopolitan village. Highly fashionable styling and sumptuous furnishings contrast effortlessly with original, Grade II worthy features to create a luxurious theme throughout. Original flag flooring, oak beams and Lakeland stone walls have been painstakingly exposed and restored to ensure their longevity and serve as a striking backdrop to this unique 21st-century holiday abode.
Located at the North end of Windermere Lake, Ambleside is a brilliant base for a self-catering break away, whatever time of year you choose to visit. There’s so much to enjoy; as well as a host of outdoorsy shops and galleries, the village is renowned for its cosy pubs with welcoming opening fires, quaint tea rooms, tempting delis and more recently, Michelin Star restaurants – there really is something for every palate and pocket. The village is a hub for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, keen to explore the dramatic scenery and routes that begin right from the doorstep here at Roembeck.
From street level, enter Roembeck through the solid oak front door and into the highly fashionable open plan living space, a superb social room with original Lakeland flagged floors, extensive exposed stone walls and accent oak beams. The lounge area is dominated by a full-length stone wall against which sits a warming woodburning stove with sofas wrapping around the same. The formal dining area blends through into the solid wood, bespoke kitchen with integrated appliances and Belfast sink wrapped in cool granite. A handy cloaks area sits next to the back door which leads to a small patio style garden with furniture provided.
Stairs from the lounge lead to the first floor and the two beautiful kingsize bedrooms with exposed stonework, original beams and quality beds dressed in crisp white linens with carefully chosen soft furnishings to complete the look. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite rainfall shower cubicle, twin basins and WC and there’s a further house bathroom with a freestanding bath, rainfall shower cubicle, basin and WC.
The third, double bedroom can be found in the annexe, a beautiful mini-suite, all on the ground floor, with an en-suite rainfall shower room, basin and WC. The suite also has the advantage of a small lounge area with a TV and wood-burning stove, kitchen and dining facility.
Outside there’s a small patio with furniture provided with direct access to Compston Street. Although Roembeck doesn’t have its own parking, a permit is provided for one vehicle which can be used on a number of car parks in the village and throughout the South Lakes, proving quite a saving on the overall cost of your holiday.

Fabulous house in the centre of Ambleside, really enjoyed our stay here.
Perfect house in a perfect location. Beautifully furnished and decorated. All very clean and well equipped. Separate annex was perfect for my father-in-law. 10/10.
Family of four (2 adults, kids 12 and 10) really enjoyed our week in this well-appointed, well-located, comfortable and attractive cottage in Ambleside… wouldn’t hesitate in booking again.
comfortable, spacious and well equipped accommodation in superb location. Highly recommended.
Really lovely cottage in a great location. Would definitely stay again!
Fantastic accommodation, with plenty of room for 6 people. The annex is a brilliant idea. Ambleside is a lovely place to stay, great restaurants, 2 bijou cinemas, close to the lake where you can access various ferries up and down Windermere. Thoroughly recommend Roembeck!!
Roembeck is a beautifully restored cottage, a tasteful blend of old and new. The kitchen is well equipped, the living kitchen area cosy and social being open plan, the bathrooms are modern and toasty warm, the beds super comfortable with lovely bedding. The central location is great, the parking permit was useful. We all loved staying here, would recommend it and hope to return soon.
Lakeland Retreats made the whole process of booking and arrival/departure super easy with a personal touch, thank you.
A beautiful property in a great central location. Very clean and immaculate throughout. Traditional with that hint of modern. Great facilities and worth the money.
This is a lovely house in a great location. The house is warm and well furnished, with very comfortable beds, great bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen.
We loved our stay here. Great location. Beds were very comfy. Living room was cosy and the wood stove was a great addition when we were cold and wet from rainy walks. The kitchen had everything you needed with everything laid out well. The bathrooms were spacious and clean and the water pressure was a lot better than back at home! Communication with Lakeland was great from the start and the parking permit proved to be very helpful. We can’t wait to visit again and potentially try a different Lakeland property 🙂
Very nice property and in a great location

Fabulous location. Very comfortable and welcoming. Great walks from the door and super local shops and restaurants. House clean and comfortable, great for our group of four, the older teenager loved the independence of the annexe.
