A picturesque riverside retreat at the gateway to the Langdales

Riversedge Cottage enjoys a most enviable riverside position on the banks of the River Brathay at Skelwith Bridge, just strides away from the famous Chesters by The River and the ever-popular Talbot Bar at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel.

Gateway to the majestic Langdale Valley, wonderful scenery, low and high-level walking and cycle routes can be enjoyed right from the door, and there’s always a great watering hole to be found to quench your thirst along the way.

Enjoy a gentle amble along the river to Elterwater, a great route for those with young ones and dogs and one of our favourites and take in refreshments at the Brittania Inn at the finish line before heading back to the quality, home comforts at Riversedge Cottage.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

  • Emma says:

The cottage is beautiful – a great location, finished and cleaned to an incredibly high standard.
Just make sure you have all received all the information sent to you beforehand and be aware that you cannot contact hosts at all after 8pm.

  • Steve Quinlan says:

A lovely, clean, dog friendly and homely cottage with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Beautifully appointed it has the convenience of two bathrooms and a very handy easy to use log burner ideal for those chilly nights.
The location is just unbelievable adjacent to the river with views of the bridge and nestled between the famous Chester’s coffee shop and the Talbot bar less than a minutes walk.
We thoroughly recommend Lakeland Retreats who were great to deal with. Not just warm and friendly but when we had an issue of our own making they responded with pace and enthusiasm
A fabulous experience all round, we will definitely be back
    Thank you Lakeland Retreats

The perfect Lake District cottage. Great location right by a flowing river and coffee shop. Can’t wait to return!

  • Alan says:

Enjoyed our stay in Skelwith Bridge. Property was clean and host helpful. Good location outwith the hustle and bustle of nearby towns that are only a short drive away. Lovely cafe and walks on your doorstep and a hotel next door for food, drinks and a game of pool which was ideal.

  • Amy says:

This is a beautiful cottage with lots of lovely walks on its doorstep. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. The cottage is kitted out well and the rooms are really spacious.

  • Cathryn says:

Great location, right by the river which is so relaxing and excellent for the kids to play in. The cottage was beautiful, very clean and well laid out. The welcome gift was a lovely surprise. Chesters cafe is also a 30sec walk for coffee, cake or lunch. And Loughrigg Fell a walk from the doorstep. Highly recommend.

  • Chris & Ann says:

Loved this cottage and had a fantastic stay. It is beautifully presented, clean, comfortable and it has everything you need. The location is idyllic with a lovely river flowing nearby and a waterfall a few minutes walk away. We spent many hours sitting in the front garden watching the birds and listening to the river. We had a truly fantastic time and can’t wait to go back.

  • Fiona Scott says:

A real gem! A beautifully well equipped cottage – a real home from home. Exceptionally clean and cosy with great attention to detail. Could not have asked for more. Location was excellent with lots of lovely walks and hostelries within easy reach. Will definitely return. Can’t recommend enough. Fabulous!

  • Torquil says:

This is a very comfortable and cosy cottage. The cottage was spotless and lovely and warm when we arrived. In fact our two dogs competed for the spot next to the radiator in kitchen overnight. Location could not be better; we never touched our car once unloaded until we left. There are both challenging and easy walks from the doorstep and three great places to eat – the Skelwith Bridge hotel is 50 yards away (supper for our first night), The Wainwright at Chapel Stile (45 minute walk home after lunch on day 2) and The Britannia (25 minute walk home after supper on day 4). We will certainly be back, either to here or one of Michelle’s other cottages.
