Delightfully detached bungalow with lovely views of Loughrigg fell

Parkwood is a superb example of a modern-day, self-catering retreat, perfectly placed in a quiet, residential backwater of popular Ambleside. Gently elevated above the village and delightfully detached, this split-level bungalow occupies a sunny, corner plot and offers stylish, comfortable accommodation for a larger party of friends and family. There is a sunny patio directly off the lounge, just the spot for enjoying your morning cuppa whilst taking in the lovely views across the village to Loughrigg beyond.

A ten-minute walk downhill brings you to the shores of Lake Windermere where you can enjoy a leisurely cruise on Windermere Lake Cruises’ latest vessel, MV Swift and take in the glorious views of the surrounding fell range. Ambleside itself has a great selection of indoor and outdoor attractions to suit our typical Lakeland climate and caters well for holidaymakers offering a great selection of supermarkets, local butchers, and bakers as well as an eclectic mix of tea rooms, bars, and restaurants to sample during the day and through to the evening.

Super stylish, Parkwood is ideal for a larger gathering of friends and family

Steps up to the front door here at Parkwood lead into a spacious, open plan living area with contemporary, well-fitted kitchen wrapped in cool granite worktops with excellent appliances of dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. A formal dining area flows through to the comfortable lounge area with deep-cushioned leather sofas arranged around the local slate fireplace with electric fire, TV with BT TV and DVD. Patio doors lead directly out onto the balcony with table and chairs and views across the valley to Loughrigg. There’s a handy utility porch to the rear with a backdoor to the garden. N.B. The rear entrance to Parkwood has a gentle slope and just two steps.

Parkwood has four good bedrooms, a twin sitting a few steps up from the lounge offering a good degree of privacy from the rest of the house. The other three bedrooms, a kingsize, a double and a single sit at the other end of the house. There are two excellent bathrooms, one with a shower over a deep bath, the other with a large shower cubicle, both with basin, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside, the lovely sunny balcony/patio off the lounge has a table and chairs and a second patio sits at the side of the house providing a little more privacy and shade by way of tall shrubs and hedges. There is ample off-road parking for up to three cars and access to the garage for storing bikes, kayaks and other outdoor gear.

  • Lynne says:

Thoroughly enjoyable week. Lovely spacious accommodation and an ideal base for a week in The Lakes. Short walk in to Ambleside, slightly hilly on the return but manageable . Quiet location. Comfortable and well equipped house. We would definitely return to this property and recommend it to others.

Lovely house – well appointed and spotlessly clean. Good for a group of six or seven.

A perfect house for a multi-generational celebration. The open plan living space, with comfy sofas, a large dining table & well equipped kitchen works really well. Enough parking space for 3 cars.

deal quiet location for us and our friends to meet up with children and a dog. Well kitted out and the beds are very comfy. Easy quick access to town centre and walks from the front door. Would happily stay again if we needed a large place to stay again.

We have had a wonderful stay at Parkwood and will be sorry to be leaving tomorrow and just couldn’t resist booking it again.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Lakeland Retreats as the property was spotless and we felt so safe and well looked after. It makes such a difference and one of the many reasons why we return.
