Remodelled to a very high spec’ in recent times with great attention to detail and superb interior design, Oakland West offers exceptional accommodation throughout, a clever marriage of its former Arts and Crafts style integrated with a traditional country house and boutique hotel charm and the perfect venue for a larger gathering of friends and family looking to spend quality time together in outstanding surroundings.
Slightly elevated above Windermere, amazing views can be had from the rear of the house across the enclosed gardens towards the Pike of Stickle, Harrison Stickle and the majestic Langdale Valley. With a large sitting room and impressive dining kitchen, enjoy a movie together or play a board game or two but equally, there are some lovely nooks and crannies to enjoy some ‘me time’ with a good book or listen to your holiday playlist.
Six en-suite bedrooms ensure your every comfort by way of quality beds dressed in crisp, cotton linens whilst outside, two terraces and an enclosed lawned garden to the rear provide a stunning vista and, if you’re lucky, a glorious sunset to the West.
Oakland West is situated in a very exclusive part of Windermere and there is direct access via a private road to Orrest Head, one of the best short walks in the Lake District.

Enter Oakland West into the magnificent kitchen dining room offering both formal and relaxed seating, a large expanse of units wrapped in cool granite surfaces with a sizeable double oven, 7 ring hob and 2 dishwashers to make light work of the washing up. A separate larder houses two American style fridge freezers, important if you are going to properly self-cater for the majority of your stay and there’s a handy laundry with cloakroom and WC just off the kitchen. The superb lounge has bespoke leather seating for all 14 of you, set around a wood-burning stove, a large wall-mounted TV with Firestick and direct access to the terrace via French doors. A cosy snug/library with feature wallpaper also has a TV and comfy seating for up to 7, ideal if you are wanting to separate the grownups from the children for a while.
On the first floor are four of the six beautifully presented and individually styled bedroom suites; one twin and three kingsize, each with private en-suite bath or shower room. Bedroom five is a ‘Duplex Style’ bedroom and has a glorious Velux Cabrio balcony from where to take in more of the stunning views. The sixth bedroom on the second floor is a quad with four single beds giving greater flexibility for you and your party, again, with a super en-suite shower room.
Outside areas
Outside, Oakland West has ample parking for up to 7 cars with the added benefit of a charging point for a hybrid/electric vehicle. The patio to the front gets the morning sun whilst the large, enclosed lawned garden to the rear overlooked by a sun trap terrace enjoys the evening sun; both areas have ample furniture for all to enjoy the outside when our typical Lake District weather will allow!
Please note: Due to its quiet, residential location, Oakland West has a no stag, hen or similar policy group. The property is best suited for family holidays/gatherings, three-generation gatherings or ‘milestone’ birthday parties and anniversaries.

Fabulous house, fabulous location and for February fabulous weather! We had an amazing weekend celebrating both birthdays thank you. We all enjoyed staying for the weekend just wish it was for longer!
We had a great stay at Oakland West. All generations in our party enjoyed the house. It provided a great base to explore the Lakes, in a super quiet location, yet only 10-15 mins away from the centre of Windermere, with its shops and pubs. With all bedrooms en-suite, it had all the advantages and privacy of a hotel with the convivial feel of a home with a great kitchen diner and two lovely lounges. The kitchen was very well appointed, and having two dishwasher made life super easy. The weather wasn’t clement enough for us to use the garden, but it looked very inviting. I hope we get to come back soon!

Just returned from an amazing 4 generation family weekend at Oakland West. 13 of us were there to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday, including our new baby granddaughter and the dogs, and it was perfect!
The location was great and the house was ideal for a large family gathering with enough space for everyone to spread out if needed, each couple having their own bedroom and bathroom. The garden was fully enclosed and safe for the dogs. The kitchen had everything you could think of and the whole house was very spacious, tastefully decorated and clean.
We’d love to come back again someday.
Beautiful house, each bedroom was spacious and clean with en suite, the beds were king size and extremely comfortable. The house was really easy to find and although it was conveniently located and a short walk from Windermere town, it was extremely quiet at night and we couldn’t hear any of the neighbours. We hired a private chef on Saturday evening and there was plenty of space for him to prepare with a huge central island and two American fridges, one with a freezer and water and ice machine. We also had a sound bath on Sunday evening and there was enough space for eight of us to lie down in the kitchen/dining room on yoga mats once we had moved the dining room table slightly. The garden was huge and south facing with the most amazing view of the sunset in the evening. Thank you for a memorable break in a beautiful location. A heads up that Dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid are provided, but not laundry liquid or bin liners, however all shops are a short walk so easy to grab anything you need.
Ideal location for Windermere and Bowness. Property was excellent. Had a large group there (13) and plenty of space and rooms to cater for different needs. Enclosed back garden – ideal for children and dogs to be safely left to play. Would definitely return as we all had a fab time.
This place is fantastic for hosting a larger group! Very well thought out with plenty of information upon arrival, didn’t need to bother the hosts at all as everything was very clear. The location is great and just a short walk into Windermere with access to plenty of walks etc. The best part of the property is the kitchen diner allowing for great dinner parties and hosting games nights etc! Would absolutely stay again!

Beautiful house in great location. Plenty of room for a large party of people and every one of our party of all ages couldn’t fault it. Would highly recommend and if you get the weather we had in July 2021 you will be very sorry to leave.
