Named after a much-loved area of Provence that the original owner, a local artist visited, Le Tholonet is a most striking, detached retreat built in the mid-60s, carefully and cleverly constructed to take best advantage of the panoramic vistas that can be enjoyed from every single room in the house. The accommodation here at Le Tholonet flows well; the rooms are spacious and large picture windows allow for plenty of light to flood through and of course, give way to that fantastic view. Quality, traditional fittings have stood the test of time and the owners have injected their own style and that of the former owner with some superb pieces of artwork displayed throughout this home from home. Le Tholonet is a place to gather with your nearest and dearest, kick back and instantly relax – you’ll no doubt do as others do when you arrive and head straight out onto the enormous balcony to get as close to the fells as possible.
Just ½ a mile outside the village of Grasmere, the location is peaceful yet convenient for ditching the car and visiting the local coffee shops, galleries and Gingerbread Shop on foot and of course, The Jumble Room at least once during your stay! Walkers can explore the area right from the doorstep; take a stroll to the Lakeshore, head up Helm Crag or up to Easedale Tarn and for those more adventurous, take on the Fairfield Horseshoe or Helvellyn safe in the knowledge that you can return to the comfort of Le Tholonet to recuperate ready to do it all again the next day.
The entrance, reached up three external steps welcomes you into a long hallway off where lies the splendid social living areas comprising the lounge dining room, light, bright and spacious with large picture windows to gaze out upon the view. Patio doors lead out to the extensive and sunny balcony with ample furniture for you all to sit together and take in the sights and sounds of the location.
The well-fitted breakfast kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need to cook up a hearty meal including that all-important dishwasher. There’s a second, quaint sitting room down a couple of steps from the hallway with a second TV and DVD, handy if you fancy some me time to read your novel or listen to some music. Back up these steps to the twin bedroom, a pretty room with wonderful views which has Jack and Jill access to the bathroom with shower over the bath, basin and WC, also accessible from the landing.
Head up the stairs to the first floor where you’ll find the master King-size bedroom, formerly the owner’s studio with a pitched roof and large picture windows (yes, the views are amazing) with an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath, basin and WC. A further double with great views has a useful washbasin.
Outside, the large gardens, laid mostly to lawn, are awash with seasonal colour with strategically placed furniture to sit and take in the view. The large balcony accessed from the lounge will be utilised at every opportunity and also has sufficient furniture for all of your party.
Off-road parking is available for three cars but do note; the drive up to the property is quite steep so take care with low sided vehicles in the winter months.

Respond to Le Tholonet
House exceeded expectations with fab al fresco dining on the extensive deck which was also a beautiful place to watch the stars. Pretty view with mature gardens that the kids loved tiring themselves out in. Perfect central location to reach pretty much any Lakeland location within an hour. Highly recommend.
