Cosy Cottage In Traditional Village Within Easy Access To Busier Resorts

The charmingly named Cottontail Cottage is set in the traditional village of Staveley, just South of Windermere, an ideal base from where to explore the more popular resorts of Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. Characterful detailing of exposed beams and flagged floors set the cottage scene throughout. With comfortable facilities and two delightful bedrooms, this is an ideal holiday retreat for a smaller family and your dog, whatever time of year you choose to visit.

Staveley has thrived since being bypassed several years ago, the village retaining a great sense of community and welcoming regular visitors throughout the year. Outstanding walking and cycling can be enjoyed right from the door of Cottontail Cottage into the beautiful Kentmere Valley where you’ll find a rich variety of routes for all ages and abilities. Staveley is blessed with a well-stocked convenience store for everyday shopping, as well as an award-winning bakery and butchers, several great pubs, a brewery with beer hall and tasty eateries including the famous Wilf’s Café.

  • Alison says:

Lovely village. Everyone very friendly . Great location for Lakes. Cottage as advertised . Homely and nicely renovated

  • Ashir says:

A very cosy place that’s driving distance away from a lot of the Lake District attractions.

  • Jason says:

Great little home, cosy, well located for walks and shops. The village is peaceful and beautiful scenery and the locals are all friendly. Honestly if you want a true lake experience then holiday this home.

  • James says:

A lovely cottage, in a fantastic location. we loved our stay here, and enjoyed using it as a base for some incredible walks. The only slight problem was how uncomfortable the double bed was. Overall a lovely stay though.

  • Andrew says:

Lovely stay at Cottontails. Good location, not to far to travel to all the main locations or you can just walk and cycle from the village. Staveley had everything we needed, cafes, shop, chemist and of course a good village pub.

  • Xander says:

Great little house. Perfectly placed to use as a springboard to visit the fantastic Lake District. Equipped with what you need for a week’s stay. The management company used was very efficient and friendly. Will come again.

  • Michael says:

The cottage is very cozy and not a far drive from Lake Windermere. Definitely recommend!

  • Claire says:

We decided to do our bit on our carbon footprint and do the Lakes on public transport. This cottage is ideally located for bus and train transport. we were here for 4 nights and saw everything and did every walk we planned. The cottage is very cute and comfortable with the added extra of NOW TV for a lazy evening with sore feet up on the sofa. The village itself has lots of amenities, artisan coffee shops and bakeries, a local pub with good pub food, a local micro brewery with bar and a chippy yo name a few

  • John says:

Enjoyed a lovely stay at the cozy comfortable cottage. Beautifully clean with all you need for a stay in the Lakes. Nice quiet location yet only meters from the high street in Staveley. I’d highly recommend a visit

  • Hannah says:

Perfect for a small family (two adults and a twelve year old), four night short stay. Fab location – very central to all that amazing Staveley has to offer.

  • Ross says:

    Nice cosy cottage

  • Craig says:

Had a great stay at Cottontail Cottage and the location in the pretty village of Stavely was perfect if you want to be away from the busier areas of the Lake District. There’s all the facilities you need in Stavely for a short stay in the Lakes and it wasn’t a long drive to all the main tourist areas. Cottontail Cottage housed a party of four adults adequately and had all the facilities you need for a short stay. Only having one bathroom was a slight bind but nothing we couldn’t workaround. In addition the small shared garden space with one seating bench limited any opportunity to sit outside in the evening, however this is clearly advertised so was expected. All in all a good stay and would recommend this location for a short stay in the Lake District.

  • Abigail says:

Good base for exploring the area and parking right outside was a bonus. Kitchen was a good size and well equipped, so easy to self cater. Heating very responsive for a cosy night in. Loved the exposed beams and stone floors downstairs.

  • Helen says:

We stayed in the cottage for a week. It was perfect for our needs – two adults, two teenage boys and a small dog. It had a lovely, cosy feel and had everything we needed. The beds were comfy and clean. The location was fantastic- 2 mins from the chippy, the butchers, artisan bakery, brewery, gelato shop and spar – so all our food needs were covered. The bakery did food for the brewery – burgers most nights apart from fri and sat when they did sourdough pizzas. It is also a great starting points for some lovely walks or an easy 10 mins to Windermere in the car. 1 min from the bus stop and a short walk to the train station. Very easy directions to the cottage and getting into the cottage was very straightforward. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again. Helen
