Castle Crag has doorstep views over the village towards St. Mary’s spire and to Loughrigg Fell beyond – see if you can spot the cottage from the summit of this manageable but satisfying amble! The hub for many local bus routes, the 555 service, runs regularly from Ambleside to Keswick and makes for a great day out and change of scenery – you (and your dog) can hop on and off all day long, great if you want to sample some of the fine hostelries in the area!

Neat as a button and all on the ground floor, Castle Crag has been well thought out to provides everything you’ll require for a short break or longer stay here in the Lakes.

A gentle slope or handful of steps leads up to the property from Lake Road. Once inside, you’re greeted by a bright, open living space, delightfully presented with a mix of slate and laminate flooring, married with solid beams and doors, crafted by the owners themselves.

In the open plan living space, the modern kitchen offers good facilities, with breakfast bar dining from which to sit and take in the view. A comfy sofa and traditional leather armchair are arranged around the modern electric fireplace, SMART TV and digital radio.

The owners having provided a good number of guide books and even a tablet to help you plan the day’s activities via the WiFi. A powerful shower with handbasin and WC sits off the hallway, and there’s a stylish kingsize bedroom to the rear, again, with views out over the village towards the fells. There’s a couple of garden chairs available for sitting outside the front of the cottage and enjoying the late afternoon sunshine.

    Me & my partner are regular visitors to Ambleside. We both absolutely loved staying at Michelle’s place. Fantastic location in Ambleside, very clean & stylish place. Would stay again easily!

    Had a wonderful stay here! The apartment was clean and cozy which was great after long days walking. They provides a guide which had local restaurants, walks and things to do. We stayed in a cooked most nights in the lovely kitchen then snuggled up on the couch. Everything is really easy to get to with lots to do in Ambleside.
