A delightful cosy cottage retreat close to the centre of vibrant Ambleside
Perfectly placed within a couple of minutes’ walk from the heart of vibrant Ambleside, Amble Cottage is an ideal base for those visitors who prefer the ease and convenience of a village centre location. Ambleside is blessed with an excellent variety of mini-markets, butchers and bakers for the self-catering visitor, intertwined with award-winning restaurants, cafes, galleries and outdoor retailers in case you get caught in a shower or two.
Amble Cottage is perfect for a Spring or Summer break; an abundance of walks and cycle routes for all ages and abilities can be enjoyed straight from the door. Autumn sees Lakeland bathed in a collage of red and gold whilst the village twinkles throughout November and December once the festive lights are switched on during the annual Lantern procession, always a grand and popular event in the community calendar.
TRADITIONAL FEATURES CLEVERLEY MARRIED WITH CONTEMPORARY STYLING
A traditional, stone-faced Lakeland cottage, enter straight into the lounge room here at Amble Cottage where you’re greeted by a statement, exposed stone wall. The backdrop perfectly frames the warming electric Everhot stove. The cream dining kitchen to the rear is well fitted and provides direct access to the enclosed courtyard to the rear.
Stairs between two rooms lead up to the first floor where you’ll find two bedrooms, both with carpeted floors, one double and one twin. The house bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC sits on the second floor along with a third, single bedroom which can be used if your teenagers don’t wish to share the twin room below. Please note: maximum of 4 guests.
A small, enclosed courtyard to the rear has furniture provided and parking is by way of permits – one for use on Millans Park, the other for use on the nearby Council car park which can also be used on several other car parks throughout South Lakeland.

September 23rd once again a lovely hoilday in amble cottage I have stayed here many times and it never disappoints I have already booked for next year me and buddy the dog love the walks on the doorstep many thanks
The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed. Very cosy and very clean. Location was amazing with plenty of parking on the street or the car parks nearby. Communication was great, all our questions and requests were answered in a very timely manner. Would definitely recommend the cottage to everyone coming to Lake District.

Had a great week in Amble Cottage. Great location near the centre of Ambleside for exploring the town and surrounding area. It’s fitted out to a high standard with everything you would need. Plenty of space for 4 people. The 3rd bedroom is a good feature so my sons didn’t have to share and had more space.

Lovely cottage in a great location in Ambleside
I thoroughly recommend Amble Cottage. The house had everything we needed, has a warm & cosy feel and great equipment and some nice books to get into the Lake District spirit. The location is excellent for hikes and exploring Ambleside and the surrounding area. We did the Fairfield Horseshoe starting right from the cottage. A special shout out dinner recommendation for other travellers is “Lucy’s on a plate”. What a great place.
Just returned from staying at Amble cottage for a week. Ideal quiet location but just steps from the restaurants and shops and of course the many walks which start from town. Bed very comfortable. Amble Cottage is very well cared for, presented beautifully and was also well stocked and cleaned to a high standard. We can’t wait to come back.
We had a wonderful 15 night stay at Amble Cottage. It is beautifully furnished and has a lot of personal touches which are a delight. The cottage has everything you need and it is in a quiet location whilst still being in the heart of Ambleside! We had the best nights sleep ever as the beds are so comfortable! We are looking forward to returning!

October 15th this is the second time I have stayed in amble cottage this year and have stayed in it last year once again its home from home always clean and tidy plenty to do on the door step walks with buddy and good pubs and a great bus service will be back again next year thanks christine and buddy

A fantastic cosy cottage in the heart of Ambleside with local amenities all within walking distance. Extremely comfortable especially if like us you have a wet and windy week but still want to get out walking, Amble cottage is the perfect place to warm up. We will be using Lakeland retreats again!

We had a great stay at Amble Cottage, the cottage was clearly freshly cleaned on arrival and well presented, the quality of decor, cooking pans/utensils etc was excellent and I would certainly recommend the property to anyone looking to explore Ambleside the the surrounding hills, lakes and valleys.
A beautiful cottage in the heart of Ambleside with local amenities in walking distance. Everything we needed was provided and after a long drive the prosecco was very welcome. The owners were responsive to any queries and the cottage was super clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.
The perfect cottage in the heart of Ambleside. Close to all local shops restaurants and supermarkets and walks. The cottage itself was home away from home with all the extra little bits added on. We loved the place and will most definitely be back again.
This is a lovely cottage – great size and extremely clean. The outside area actually is slightly bigger than photographed – you can sit 4 people around the outside table. The rooms are good sizes and it is full of character. It is a perfect location as it is 2 min walk to shops/restaurants/pubs in Ambleside and there is so much to do and see in the local area – it was our first time to the Lakes and it was gorgeous. 2 parking permits are provided, one for the street closest to the cottage and one for other car park nearby and in other towns – extremely helpful! Would definitely recommend staying and would go again in a heartbeat!
